As an individual, mother and wife, Shelly has experienced unemployment, understands what it means and how it feels to have a partner that is unemployed and the stress and strain that it creates on a family to not know how to make an unemployment check  stretch to the next two weeks. Shelly is developing a thoughtful plan about ways that at the ward level opportunities for those who are under and unemployed can be reengaged back into the workforce. She will be examining and partnering with think tanks to look at how education and training options can be expanded to catapult people towards their financial and career goals. She will be working on plans for previously incarcerated residents who have difficult finding and qualifying for jobs. She will continue to talk to and understand the concerns that residents have about the ways that unemployment contribute to crime and issues related to safety. Stay tuned!
